I definitely think that the ELA technology standards I would be most comfortable teaching in this moment are those for grades K-5. Although there are a wide range of standards for these grades I believe that they each build on each other. I feel very comfortable with the standards for 5th grade, especially LAFS.5.RL.3.7, which states "analyze how visual and multimedia elements contribute to the meaning, tone, or beauty of a text (e.g., graphic novel,
multimedia presentation of fiction, folktale, myth, poem)". I am very comfortable taking a piece of text that utilizes various forms of storytelling, especially those in visual form due to my extensive background in theatre and work with young students. I would say the standards that I would need work on are those for high school 9-12. This where standards get to be a little challenging but I feel like with this class I',m developing many more skills to be able to reach that goal.
Due to my desire to teach the theatre the resource I chose is for one of the theatre standards for grades 9-12. The resource has to do with the shift of focus onstage and how an actor can stay engaged in the scene and with their character. The resource is a detailed lesson plan template that outlines how theatre students can reach this goal. It mainly focuses on the methods and acting styles of Constantin Stanislavski, a famous theatre practitioner credited with the creation of the first acting method. He has influenced a vast majority of other practitioners in the field who have developed their own methods based on his work. His methods contribute to how an actor approaches a scene and the steps they must take to create their world and the way their character works within the world. I would include this resource in my classroom because it is essential to the art of theatre and the study of theatre to learn of Stanislavski's work and the basic forms of engagement within a scene. It also practices basic scene study work, which is crucial for any young actor to learn how to do.
While delving into my newsletter design I became really familiar with new ways to format and different abilities within Word that I never knew existed. The one that really sticks out to me is how to create columns on a page, which I was incredibly nervous about doing to begin with but once I figured it out everything became easier. I really enjoy the way my newsletter is structured. I think it is clear and concise and organized in a way that follows a path, a ind of guideline to reading it. I also love that it sort of tells a story, which I'm very big on when I'm designing or writing anything. If I could change something on it for the future it would probably be the color scheme. Although I like the deep red that I chose to use I think I could find better colors to compliment it and would make it pop more.
